About

In a quiet corner of a centuries-old village, lives a Murti Shilpi — a generational craftsman whose hands carry the legacy of devotion and artistry. Belonging to a lineage of idol makers, he has inherited not just tools and techniques, but a sacred bond with the divine. His family has been crafting murtis — sacred idols of Indian gods and goddesses — for generations, each one a symbol of spiritual reverence and unmatched craftsmanship.

Specializing in metal idols, primarily using bronze, brass, and panchaloha (a sacred five-metal alloy), his work is entirely handcrafted. Every murti begins as a prayer — a ritual — and is slowly brought to life through ancient methods passed down orally and through practice. The process often involves the lost-wax casting technique (Madhuchistha Vidhana), followed by intricate chiseling, polishing, and finally, sanctifying the idol through traditional rites.

With eyes sharp from years of detail work and fingers worn yet steady, he sculpts the divine forms with soulful precision — the serene face of a meditating Buddha, the powerful stance of a dancing Nataraja, the graceful curve of Lakshmi's hand bestowing blessings. No two idols are the same; each is a unique embodiment of faith, energy, and heritage.

For him, this is not just a craft — it is seva (service), a sacred duty. His workshop smells of oil, smoke, and metal — a small temple in itself — where art and spirit fuse to create more than just statues: they become conduits for devotion, culture, and timeless tradition.
